Forbidden City & Imperial Palace in Beijing

For Memorial Weekend 2012, we traveled to Beijing on the fast train out of Hong Qiao station. One of our many stops was The Forbidden City by Tiananmen Square. The palace was home to 24 emperors through the Ming & Qing dynasties. The palace is enormous and literally will take a full day to tour and take in the vast amount of buildings, gardens, & history of the place. Once you get through the Meridian Gate you will instantly notice the symmetrical pattern the buildings are in. If you love history you’ll love The Forbidden City.
