In the States and on Michigan soil

…. and so we’re home, the packing and preparations for this USA bound trip was exhausting. Now that we’re home, I can tell you with absolute certainty, it was worth it! About the hardest thing we have faced so far is the sleep deprivation from the time change and the stomach ache’s from the food change. Today is a new day and both issues will be resolved, I’m just sure of it, or I’m just wishing it will happen. ha ha

When we moved to Michigan in 2010, I remember saying to my husband that we would be alone and lonely. Boy, I couldn’t have been more wrong! We have developed some great long-lasting friendships. Up until this trip, I still thought we were mere acquaintances; however, it goes deeper, much deeper. We are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!

My husband and I were having a great discussion,  where we both had a fit of laughter over the topic, “Are we a vagabond family”? We have had 4 different addresses in the last 3 years. Indiana, Texas, Michigan, & China. As a new family (almost 7 years) we had not set down roots anywhere. I personally loved Indiana, I feel I grew into adulthood there. My children and some family members live in Indiana, Mike’s family is in Indiana, & we have some pretty fantastic friends in Indiana. Then there’s Texas, where the Southern most region, is as hot as an open fire all Summer long. My mother and practically all my wonderful family lives in Texas. Michigan, what can I say, I love Michigan! This is the place that we will eventually retire too, at least I think it is. No, I’m sure it will be.

For some and even for us, China was never on my, “must visit & vacation” country. After being there for 6 months, we find that we do enjoy it. Sure, there are many negative things we can say, but in the end we are the visitors, we are the one’s that must adapt to the culture (as much as possible), we are the ones that chose to be there, & we are the ones that chose to return.

We know we are not the only ones with a wondering & travel bug when our 12 & 14 year old daughters add their own destinations to the bucket. So we now have, Korea, Thailand, Paris, & Switzerland. Hmm… all in Still Times.

Life is good, we are incredibly blessed!

The first morning we were here, we couldn’t wait to get to the water. We wanted to, “just be”, to enjoy the sounds and sand under our feet.
