After entering the gate and through the first part of the park, I’m in awe of the magnificent beauty standing tall and proud at the end of the lane. Wow! There before us stood the biggest bronze Sakyamuni Buddha statue I’ve ever seen. The Grand Buddha at LingShan (LingShanDaFo, 灵山大佛) is a pretty magnificent site standing at 288 feet tall. According to the literature we read, the right hand is in the vaisaradya posture as a sign of blessing for the people, protection from evil, & warding off fear.
After seeing the Buddha for myself I can’t help but be very impressed with the craftsmanship with which this statue was constructed. Seamless in every way.
