Fresh Squeezed

Every morning I’m greeted with a tight hug and a pleasant, “good morning, how did you sleep.” This morning this wonderful husband of mine and the great father of our children greeted his family with fresh squeezed orange juice. Are you wondering or asking yourself what’s so special about orange juice?

It’s not really about the orange juice, not at all. It’s about the time he takes or carves out of his busy morning to ensure we have a great start to our morning. It’s about meditation while doing something he loves. It’s about ensuring we know he loves us and thinks about us above all else. It’s really all about love and loving his family. It’s all about us.

Hand Over Hand – by Mike Smyth

At the edge of hopelessness, when all seems to be lost, the universe throws into your life the right person at just the right time. The knot at the end of your rope which provides the encouragement to start climbing and to not look down into the interminable abyss. A voice that is right there with you cheering you on, telling you,” You can do this, one hand over the other, don’t look up, don’t look down, just one hand over the other, that’s it, keep going!”

My husband is participating in a writing class. Out of the class and encouragement by so many, his writing has evolved into more than just beautiful words. Today, his post on FB was so encouraging to me that I decided to share it with you (with his permission of course). Please enjoy.

A Vintage Cart – Recognize it?

What is it about this little toddler cart or bike that is so fascinating to me? I wish I could answer my own question; However, I can’t seem to put it out of my mind. I purchase this little gem from a Facebook Selling Site for $20. Whether its worth the money or not is yet to be determined. I just find it so intriguing.

The wheels are similar to a few items I found from the 1940’s. There are no pedals and that’s another mystery to me. I’d like to find out f they are missing or if they were not made with them. The front of the cart has some sort of name and little wooden beads that a child would have push back and forth.

Have you ever seen a cart like this?

Do you know what they are called or who the manufacturer was? Here are a few more pictures to help jog your memory.

Lastly but real fun are the wheels on the cart. Look at the covering of the tires, such a unique shape. I love the probability and images of children giggling as they rode along while a big brother or sister pushed from behind. Or even little feet as they piddle paddle trying to go, go, go.

Please share your thoughts and maybe a name if you can make it out. Thank you so much. Cheers!

Eclectic Shoppe, Wabash, Indiana

What’s that you ask? It’s our new shop name minus the city and state of course, Eclectic Shoppe. We are so excited to be working on a brick and mortar place, a labor of love and passion.

This is the banner on our Facebook Page.

The shop should come to fruition sometime at the beginning of April. Due to my constant indecisiveness, we are now forced to push back our grand opening. That’s ok though, a well thought out plan sometimes has wrinkles, right? Ha!

Eclectic Shoppe will feature Art, vintage and modern decor, accessories, and gifts (gifts are due in early summer). We’ve signed with artist of different genres and medias. From canvas, wood, re-cycled & up-cycled goods, to vintage and modern decor pieces. The beauty of our shop, is that all the vintage and modern decor pieces are hand selected by Alex and I. We want to mix the media up, mix and mingle pieces together. Not necessarily to match, but to show what the possibilities could be. This is such an exciting time for us and it is wonderful to work with my daughters on such a project.

The first thing I want to share are the floors.

The floors are done and they have turned out beautifully. The original floors had carpet and while it looked great, I wanted to uncover and restore the beautiful flooring underneath. Do you like wood floors or rugs? I think a few area rugs might work out really well in this space. What do you think?

There was old tile work in this section. We've had a local company remove that tile and now we are waiting on, "me", of course, because I have not picked out the tile. :)

This is after all the glue has been removed and the floors have been sanded. We could see the promise of beauty to come.

Oh what a smell that was, but just look at the beauty that was uncovered. A diamond in the rough... I'm in love with my floor.

At this time we are accepting new artisan work. Inquiries should be emailed to 42Eclectic@gmail.com . Thank you.
