Waste Management In The Alley’s of Luxu China

In the narrow alley’s of this old town where car’s can’t get through, waste is removed via a man pulling a cart. The alley’s and the life we see here is so different from the Shanghai streets where glamour and glitz radiates from the pavement.

I could sit and watch alley life go by all day long….

This photo was taken by my 13 year old daughter who has aspirations of one day becoming a professional photographer. I’ll continue to share photo’s as she shares them with me.

Because of her interest and love of photography, I’ve decided to share the Nikon D5100 with her. We believe in supporting her interests and feel she might be on to something.

The photo was taken with a Windows Lumia 920 phone on Tuesday at 1:30PM. The day was not a very good sun shining day as there was a little smog in the air. No post processing was done to the photo.

Small Broom Tradition – China

This gorgeous young man is Jay, the child of a very good friend here in China. In a town called Yancheng lies a community of traditional people with a strong belief in superstition. The broom that is in Jay’s crib was placed there by Jay’s great grandmother. It is believed that the broom keeps bad spirits away. I believe every culture has it’s traditions, superstitions, and quirks.

Note: This type of broom is also sold locally here in Luxu; however, it is used to scrub pans.
